BMW Motorrad
A launch without its leading actor.

01
Setup
Launching a motorcycle that does not yet physically exist.
The R 12 S is an homage: the shapes and colours of the legendary 1970s R 90 S, translated into the engineering of the R 12 nineT. A bike with history — "Tribute to a legend", pure #Soulfuel, "Let's paint the town orange".
The campaign assets had to carry that emotion. The problem: there was no vehicle. No bike to shoot, no set, no location scouting — but the full quality standard of BMW Motorrad. For Mainworks it was a first commission, and a chance to show what fully digital production can do today.
BMW supplied a rough brief: effect, environment, mood. Everything else — from the first idea to the final asset — was on us. Timing was decisive: BMW wanted to be ready to communicate before any production bikes existed. Every day spent waiting for a real bike would have been time to market lost.
Stats

CAMPAIGN FINISHED. MOTORCYCLE STILL IN PRODUCTION.
02
Approach
A dataset instead of a shoot day.
The vehicle comes from CGI, built on BMW's original CG data. Every edge, every surface, the characteristic boxer engine — exactly the later production model.
The environments come from AI, matched precisely to the visual world and the brief — no location day, no travel, no waiting on the weather.
So do the people in frame: AI talent, integrated directly into the scenes. No casting, no shoot day. And post-production brings CGI, AI and retouching together into a look that doesn't read as a render — it reads as a major campaign.

Core insight
"The R 12 S was our first project for BMW Motorrad — and proof that a launch campaign can now be created entirely digitally. A brief and a dataset became an on-brand visual world, finished before the motorcycle could be seen in the flesh. Faster, more flexible, independent of the physical product — with no compromise on quality."
